Ginger Peach Iced Tea

Ginger provides a relief of nutrient and health benefits. It contains antiviral, anti-fungal, and antitoxic properties. It can be used as a prevention method and treatment from the common cold. It provides antihistamine and anti-inflammatory properties and can reduce the effects of both allergies and arthritis. Consuming ginger regularly can increase digestive health as well as lower blood sugar levels for people with type 2 diabetes. Peaches provides lots of sweet flavor with a low calorie count. They are rich in vitamin C, potassium, and iron. Peaches can protect against anemia, improve skin and eye health. In addition to its high vitamin content, phenolic compounds found in peaches may protect against diabetes, cardiovascular health, and certain cancers.

Ginger Peach Iced Tea

Ingredients:

7 tea bags, of your choice (black tea, green tea etc)
7 cups water
1 inch or 2 inch piece fresh ginger, crushed (depending on your preference)
3 ripe peaches
1 tsp sugar
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
Raw sugar to taste
Fresh mint to garnish

Directions:

  1. Wash and slice the peaches. Add the peach slices to a small bowl with 1 tsp sugar. Add the crushed ginger. Mix together well. Let the sugar draw out some of the peach juice.
  2. Bring 7 cups of water to a boil. Remove from the heat, and add the tea bags, covering the top. Allow that to sit for about 5-7 minutes. Remove the tea bags, and put the tea in a pitcher. Add raw sugar to taste. Stir well.
  3. Add peach and ginger mixture (along with the drawn out water from the peaches) to a blender with half of the tea, honey (or raw sugar), fresh lemon juice and blend well. Add this mixture back into the pitcher to allow to chill in the fridge and let the flavors blend together.
  4. Serve with ice, garnish with fresh mint and peach wedges. Enjoy!
