A banana sundae smoothie that is as delicious as it is good for you. Bananas are a great energy source and contain good levels of pectin and resistant starch, which acts as soluble fiber. Both pectin and resistant starch may aid in moderating blood sugar levels after meals, and can help towards reducing your appetite by slowing stomach emptying. Dates also possess similar properties and contain calcium, iron, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, magnesium, and zinc. Cacao, with its rich chocolate taste, possess near 40x the antioxidant levels of blueberries making it one of the most antioxidant rich foods on the planet. There is nothing (in moderation) in this smoothie that is not good for you or nutrient-dense!

Banana Sundae Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 ½ cups coconut milk
1 frozen banana
3 dates
1 tbsp almond butter
1 tbsp cacao powder
⅓ cup blueberries or strawberries
Melted dark chocolate to drizzle
*can also add ½ cup protein powder of choice*

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients in a blender (except the dark chocolate) and pulse well. Add to serving cup, add ice if desired, drizzle with melted dark chocolate, serve and enjoy!
