Seeds are a vital part of our diet. They contain fiber, vitamin E and monounsaturated fats that protect our hearts and bodies. Seeds are also great sources of protein, minerals, zinc and other vitamins and nutrients. The nutrients found in seeds provide vast health benefits. They can neutralize free radicals, help lower blood pressure, protect against osteoporosis, and promote digestive health. Sunflower, hemp, pumpkin, flax, sesame, and chia are all types of seeds you can ensure are a consistent part of your diet. Add them as a topping to you morning toast, in salads, soups, desserts, and many other savory or sweet dishes.
Multi-Seed Crackers
Ingredients:
½ cup flax seeds
¼ cup pumpkin seeds
2 tbsp chia seeds
2 tbsp sesame seeds
½ tsp salt
½ cup water
1 tsp cumin seeds *optional*
1 tsp mustard seeds *optional*
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
- Add all seeds and salt into a bowl and mix well. Add water and mix together well. Set aside for 1 hour.
- When done, pour onto lined baking sheet and roll into a thin layer, about ½ cm thick. Cut into cracker-sized pieces. Put into the oven for about 1 hour until crisp.
- When done remove from oven and let cool. Use crackers to scoop into your favorite dips. Store in an airtight container at room temperature. Enjoy!
